Piedmont’s engineering team consists of mechanical and aerospace engineers who have direct experience with aerospace component repair and development. Design and development includes conceptualization, reverse engineering, and preparation of design drawings and engineering reports.
We have a Brown & Sharpe Global Fx 777 Coordinate Measuring Machine that is equipped with a variety of sensors and software to perform a wide range of measurement and inspection tasks including first piece and layout inspection, reverse engineering, tool set up, process control, and archiving. Our CMM is also equipped with the powerful, PC-DMIS measurement and inspection software from Brown & Sharpe that provides the most comprehensive solution to metrology applications of any measurement and inspection software. With PC-DMIS software, we can measure everything from simple prismatic parts to complex, contoured surfaces with speed, efficiency and accuracy.
An onsite FAA Designated Engineering Representative with over ten (10) years of experience approves the engineering technical data by certifying that the data complies with the applicable regulations. His approval authority includes Engines, APUs, and Mechanical Systems & Equipment.
We have a very good working relationship
with the FAA Aircraft Certification Office and we work with them directly
for obtaining approvals on projects that are outside the DERs authority.
